The Ghost Fleet of Mallows Bay dates to WWI, and the wreckage of roughly 230 vessels now hosts a variety of wildlife. Paddlers have access to Mallows Bay-Potomac River National Marine Sanctuary via launch sites in both Maryland and Virginia. (Will Parson/Chesapeake Bay Program)
