Feedback on water quality milestones requested by December 21
Federal agencies are soliciting input on two year goals
Under the Chesapeake Bay Watershed Agreement, the federal government and the seven watershed jurisdictions – Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia – have committed to ten goals that will help restore and protect the Chesapeake Bay.
To help these partners meet their commitments under the Watershed Agreement, they have agreed to establish two year milestones, or short-term water quality goals. These milestones will help increase restoration work and ensure progress toward meeting pollution reduction measures. The draft 2018 – 2019 Federal Water Quality Two-Year Milestones are now open for a 30-day public comment period.
You can provide feedback on the draft water quality milestones through December 21, 2017.
These draft water quality milestones are selected because they represent activities with the potential to have significant environmental outcomes, require significant resources or directly support the jurisdictions in meeting their Watershed Implementation Plan commitments. These milestones are contingent on receiving adequate federal funding in the fiscal year 2018 and 2019 budgets.
