I been working with ORP for almost 2 years after I started my organization BayBBeautiful at 16 yo. I currently collect from almost 30 businesses ans do events and pick up at one time events. Just the first 10 months of 2019 I have collected over 20,000 pounds of shells for ORP and Horn point Labs. Stef
Good article. Good photos.
Lynnhaven River NOW has been running a shell recycling program in Virginia Beach, Va., for six years. We have 20 restaurants participating, two public drop off sites and we pick up from special events. We are averaging about 200 bushels of shell per month; 2,400 bushels in 2012.
What a great story, Catherine--thanks! I learned that ORP has planted more than 4 BILLION oysters into our Bay, more than any coalition of restoration partners ever.
Thank you!
