Purpose
The 2003 annual meeting of the Chesapeake Executive Council will take place on December 9 at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. The meeting returns Bay restoration leaders to the George Mason University Student Union to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the first Chesapeake Bay Agreement. The Executive Council – which includes the governors of Maryland, Pennsylvania and Virginia, the mayor of the District of Columbia, the administrator of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the chair of the Chesapeake Bay Commission – is expected to discuss accelerated nutrient reduction efforts, improved blue crab fishery management and expanded riparian forest buffer restoration goals. After their meeting, Executive Council members will make brief remarks beginning at approximately 10:50 a.m.Related Files:
