Doug Bell
Doug is an Environmental Protection Specialist employed by the EPA and works in the Chesapeake Bay Program’s Partnerships and Accountability branch, specifically on the Accountability and Budget Team. His portfolio encompasses Indicator coordination, budget formulation, and management of ChesapeakeStat. Doug holds a B.S. in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from the University of Michigan and a PhD in Marine Science from the University of South Carolina. Nearly all of Doug’s ten years of aquatic ecology research has focused on nutrient cycling, particularly phosphorus composition and transformation across a range of environments (open ocean, estuarine, freshwater). He also has several years of experience within the federal government, focusing on organizational strategy, budget, and operations, as well water quality standards.
