Peter Claggett
Peter is a Research Geographer with the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) and has worked at the Chesapeake Bay Program Office since 2002. Peter’s research focuses on characterizing past, present, and future land cover and land use conditions throughout the watershed. Peter’s employment history includes serving as an Agroforestry Extension Agent for the U.S. Peace Corps in the Philippines, evaluating the impacts of flood control projects in West Virginia for U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and assessing landscape-scale impacts from mountain top mining for the Canaan Valley Institute. He received a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Sciences from the University of California at Berkeley and two Master’s degrees in the fields of Geography and Environmental Science from Miami University of Ohio. When not camping with his family, Peter can be found running, biking, kayaking, or woodworking on Kent Island.
