As part of the process of establishing accountability and tracking the implementation of management actions, each fishery management plan (FMP) is annually reviewed and updated. This report reviews the progress of management plans during 1994 and includes the following species: American shad, hickory shad, blueback herring, alewife herring, blue crab, oyster, bluefish, weakfish, spotted seatrout, summer flounder, spot, croaker, American eel, black drum and red drum.
Implementation Plan for Management of the Chesapeake Bay Alosid (Shad and Herring) Fisheries
Published on July 1, 1990 in Management PlanThe Chesapeake Bay Program Executive Council adopted the Chesapeake Bay Alosid Management Plan in July 1989 to establish a framework for coordinated management of the Chesapeake's shad and herring fisheries. This implementation plan is a tabular synopsis of the management plan that will be useful in keeping track of management progress. It lists problem areas and corresponding implementing actions (in abbreviated form), schedules, and jurisdictions responsible for implementation. It also includes the type of implementing action required (i.e., administrative, regulatory or legislative), an estimate of additional funding or personnel required, plus comments on the progress being made or direction being taken. The Chesapeake Bay Alosid Management Plan should be referred to for a more complete description of this information.
